January 9th: "Browsing" (leading lines)
For this photo I took it from the side at an angle to give the illusion of a longer lineup of books, I really liked how this one turned out after cropping and editing, in the original photo the books had the normal library stickers on the bottom and I felt they were very distracting to the image as a whole.
January 10th: "Do not Disturb" (symmetry)
I took this photo while walking around the school with some friends. We ended up in the library and I thought the shot looked very pleasing and serene. While doing this project I've found myself feeling calm every time I look at this photo and that's one of the main things I love about it. I didn’t have to do much editing with this one.
January 11th: "The Bridge" (contrast)
This photo was taken after class when I was walking to my car. The contrast between the bridge and the dark sky was much more prominent in person and I think I could've gotten a better image if I had taken a couple instead of just one. I only ended up cropping this one so that the sky and snow at the top and bottom looked about equal to each other.
January 12th: "Drops of light" (depth of field)
Friday is my day off of school so I went downtown with my brother to run some errands and I noticed the water drops on the car window. The closer I put my camera to the window the more focused the water became and how blurry the rest became. I love the way the light shines through the water drops.
January 13th: "Decent" (leading lines/ rule of thirds?)
This one was taken in the back staircase at a bar downtown, The Heart and Crown, while following my friend around I noticed the door and thought it would make a cool picture. I was going for an eerie feeling with the stairs leading down and the only light coming from outside casting shadows on the floor. I feel if I had gotten lower when taking the picture it would've turned out nicer but I’m happy with what I got.
January 14th: (texture)
This photo was for “texture”. While at the gym on the weekend I noticed the pattern on the wall and thought it would make a cool photo and be a new element that I didn't yet have for the project. I just got close to the wall while trying not to block the lighting too much.
January 15th: (symmetry)
This last one is my favourite from the week. After class on Monday my friend, Liam, and I were walking around trying to find ideas for our last picture. When I saw the puddle I first took the shot with just the street in view but found it was lacking something, so I got Liam to stand in the puddle and took a picture of that. I then just cropped and flipped it when I got home.
